Name: Rucha Joshi (she/her)
Place Born: Maharashtra, India
Location of first yoga/movement/class: I had been learning yoga at a small studio in my hometown of Pune, India for a few years and I was fortunate enough to begin my practice classes at the same place after becoming a yoga instructor.
Personal goal at the moment: At the moment, I wish to graduate from my MS Counseling Psychology program at KU and make a smooth transition to becoming a working professional.
Something you love to do other than your practice: Besides my practice, I’m enjoying spending time trying out different food, TV shows and just relaxing right now.
Something you love about you right now: Currently, I am really loving my patient, steady and resilient personality. I am loving that my yoga practice has been helping me stay calm and level-headed even if everything seems too overwhelming at times.
Why Be Moved: The first moment I stepped into Be Moved studio, everything just felt welcoming and comfortable. The first conversation that Laura and I had, we discussed how much we really value the principles of traditional yoga and don’t look at it as just a form of exercise and I knew that I am going to love this place. I have always felt like my personal values fit very well here and I just get that peaceful feeling every time I’m here.
Any fun fact you want to add: I almost always forget about it, but the first ever time I attempted to teach yoga to anyone was actually at the age of 9. I had participated in a children’s yoga workshop and I was so fascinated by the teacher’s style that I used to imitate him all the time and teach yoga to my older sister at home.
